FE Classic Monochrome
My new old camera is younger than I am, though older than most of you. It’s in pretty good shape and most of its parts work. That makes it healthier than my buddy, RD. It takes 35mm film and a couple of small button batteries. My digital gear from this century, on the other hand, needs a big battery and uses chips of human incomprehensibility. The photojournalist who recorded the depression, the world wars, and other defining events and personalities of the twentieth century would have made great use of and have a great appreciation of my digital gear although they did very well with what they had. Monochromatic imaging meant that they couldn’t cover up a boring composition with big splashes of bright red. Kind of forced a photographer to see peacocks, sunsets, and humanity.
